On April 14, 2021, the European Standards Commission (CEN) issued the updated version of EN 71-3: en 71-3:2019 + a1:2021.

The EU toy safety standard EN 71-3 has been updated frequently in recent years. The updated content is based on the previous version of the standard to revise the specific element migration limit requirements. The newly released en 71-3:2019 + a1:2021 is a major update in recent years, which revises the migration limits of aluminum in three categories of toy materials.

The limit value of aluminum (AL) migration has been updated in en71-3:2019 + a1:2021 as follows.

As early as November 19, 2019, the European Union issued directive (EU) 2019 / 1922 to revise the migration amount of aluminum in toys, which will come into effect on May 20, 2021. The new standard EN 71-3:2019 + a1:2021 adopts the content of the directive and updates the requirements for aluminum migration.

The standard EN 71-3:2019 + a1:2021 will be defined as a national standard, and the conflicting national standards will be replaced by the end of October 2021 at the latest. At present, the latest harmonized standard of EU toy safety directive 2009 / 48 / EC is en 71-3:2019. En 71-3:2019 + a1:2021 is expected to replace this standard as a new harmonized standard.

GIG suggests that relevant toy export enterprises should keep track of the latest information on the standard on the one hand, on the other hand, improve the production process, use environmentally friendly and harmless materials, strictly control the quality of toy products, ensure that the toy materials meet the standard requirements and avoid the export trade risks.
