Important - European standard for lamps en IEC 60598-1:2021 will be officially implemented soon!
1、 Introduction to new standards
• the new version of en IEC 60598-1:2021 luminaries - Part 1: General requirements and tests will be implemented on September 19, 2021.
• the test standard of the existing certificate is en 60598-1:2015 + a1:2018, which will expire after March 19, 2024. The CE-LVD certificate of all lamp products shall be updated to the latest version before 2024-03-19.
2、 Standard updates
1) Revise the requirements of anti electric shock protection cover of non user replacement light source lamps in Chapter 4.30 from two independent fixing methods to one.
2) Revised chapter 4.24.2, blue light hazard, deleted rg0 level.
3) Revise chapter 5.2.16 and add relevant requirements of IEC 61984 connector.
4) Chapter 3.3.25 is added to add the requirements for cable UV protection: if the lamp uses a UV emitting light source, relevant instructions shall be added to the manual to remind the installation personnel to use an anti UV protective sleeve for the on-site main power wiring.
5) Chapter 4.34 is added, which requires that lamps shall meet the requirements of EMF IEC 62493:2015
6) Chapter 1.2.73.1 is added, and the definition of protective grounding is added.
7) Chapter 4.35 is added, and the requirements for preventing contact with rotating fan blades are added.
8) Revise chapter 3.2.2 to modify the requirements for rated voltage marking.
9) Chapter 5.2.10 is revised to modify the requirements of crimping buckle.
10) Revised appendix g, test settings for contact current and protective conductor current.
11) Chapter 3.2.27 is added, and the requirements for constant optical output function and programmable current output are added.
12) Revise chapter 8.2.3, modify the voltage limit that SELV can be contacted, and add PELV requirements.
13) Add chapter 1.2.42.3 and add the definition of PELV.
14) Chapter 1.2.98 is added, and the definition of lamp (POE) connected by Ethernet power supply is added.
15) Add chapters 9.2.10 and 9.2.11, and add relevant requirements of ipx9.
16) Chapter 3.3.26 is added, and the description requirements for wall mounted lamps are added.
17) Revised Appendix D to add an alternative method for temperature rise test of lamps with TA higher than 25 ℃.
18) Revised chapters 3.3.19 and 10.3 to modify the requirements for protecting conductor current.
19) New chapter 4.36, track mounted lamps shall be tested in accordance with Annex A of IEC 60570:2003 / amd2:2019.
20) Revise chapter 10.2.2 and add the test method of DC electrical strength.
21) revised Appendix D to modify the test conditions for embedded lamps covered with thermal insulation.
22) Chapter 4.12.5 was revised to modify the test torque of metal gland.
23) revise 4.10.4 and modify relevant requirements for protection impedance.
24) revise 5.2.14 to modify the requirement that class 3 low-voltage plug cannot be connected with high-voltage power socket.
