Transition between old and new versions of Saudi SASO 2663 air conditioning standard
On August 23, 2021, SASO officially announced the implementation transition period of SASO 2663 new and old standards for air conditioning energy efficiency. Relevant manufacturers are requested to pay attention to the important time point of standard implementation, complete the new standard test within the standard transition period as soon as possible and update the energy efficiency Certificate in time.

The updated standard mainly describes "air conditioning - minimum energy efficiency, labeling and testing requirements for low capacity windows and single split", and improves the requirements for air conditioning because it introduces seasonal performance-efficiency ratio (SEER).
In addition, standard SASO 2663 is only applicable to air conditioners with HS Title 841510.
At the end of June, the Saudi standards, metrology and quality organization updated SASO 2663:2021 standard to replace its 2018 edition. The standard describes the energy label and minimum energy performance requirements of air conditioning, and introduces the concept of seasonal performance efficiency ratio.
