According to the latest guidelines on the use of ukca logo published on the British official website on August 24, 2021: "manufacturers can continue to use CE logo on their products to enter the British market until January 1, 2023. Products on the British market from January 1, 2023 must be marked with the ukca mark in accordance with relevant regulations. "
After the brexit transition period, the ukca logo will be officially used for products entering the UK from January 1, 2021. As a transitional policy, the CE mark can still be accepted as a compliance mark for entering the UK market before January 1, 2022.
Within the EU, the CE mark is mandatory for mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment, medical equipment, personal protective equipment and toys. Therefore, anyone who wants to sell electrical products in the EU needs to conduct compliance testing and affix the CE mark on their products. At present, these standards are unified in all Member States, including the UK - but this will change as the UK leaves the EU - the ukca mark will replace the CE mark. Therefore, most products that previously required the CE mark - as well as aerosols - needed the ukca mark to be sold in the UK market.
Now, the British government has announced that it will continue to extend the transition period for one year, that is, CE marked products can still be accepted by the UK before January 1, 2023. However, only for products whose requirements of CE mark and UK ukca mark are still consistent.
If the EU updates its regulations and the CE mark on the manufacturer's products complies with these new regulations, the products with CE mark will not be accepted by the UK market, even before the deadline of January 1, 2023.
At the same time, the British government calls on the manufacturer to ensure full compliance with the requirements of ukca mark as soon as possible. From January 1, 2023, ukca logo must be used to enter the UK market. It should be noted that products entering the UK market from the EU also need new British Importers to perform their duties as importers.
