South Africa National Compulsory Specification Implementation Act (Act 5 of 2008) was promulgated on July 4, 2008 in the Government Gazette 31216, and September 1, 2008 mandatory implementation, controlled by the South African institutions NRCS. NRCS is the National Regulator of Compulsory Specification NRCS is the National Regulator of Compulsory Specification abbreviation, the full name of the Chinese national mandatory requirements management department, its predecessor for the SABS certification of the regulatory department, has since become an independent department.
All electrical and electronic products that meet the requirements, whether exported or sold in the South African market, must apply to the NRCS to obtain a certificate of authorization as a clearance and sales pass.
The certification of electrical and electronic products is mainly divided into two aspects: safety and electromagnetic compatibility. For safety, must obtain LOA (letter of Authority) certificate, for electromagnetic compatibility need to obtain COC (certificate of Compliance) certificate. The following is an explanation of important terms.
1.NRCS: It is the issuing authority of LOA certificate.
2.SABS: It is the issuing body of COC certificate and SABS mark certification. South African National Bureau of Standards (SABS)
Responsible for the production of South African standards, but also engaged in the certification and testing work.
3.LOA certification: letter of Authority, for safety aspects.
4. COC certification: certificate of Compliance, for EMC aspects.
5. SABS certification: This certification is voluntary. Strict requirements, the need for the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) to arrange factory inspection and testing, and after the certification of the annual audit 2 times.
Included in the mandatory specifications of electrical and electronic products are the following five categories.
1. Household and similar products;
2. Information technology products;
3. Electronic entertainment equipment;
4. Handheld power tools category;
5. Wire and cable.
1. Customer prepares samples and submits information to GIG
2. GIG laboratory conducts the test
3. After the test is completed, submit to NRCS or SABS for certification
Both LOA certificate and COC certificate have no certification mark.
The SABS mark certification (voluntary certification) is marked as follows.
Technical information: voltage frequency AC 220V/50Hz, plug SABS 164-1
Whether mandatory: LOA and COC certification is mandatory, SABS mark certification is voluntary
