SAA stands for Standards Association of Australia, the standards-setting body in Australia, and was changed from an association to a limited company in 1999 as Standards Australia International Limited (SAI). SAI is an independent jointstock company, not directly related to the government. We often refer to Australian certification as SAA certification, but in fact, SAA isn’t only a standard-setting body, and also one of the issuing certificates bodies for product certification.
