Australian certification regulation update: inverter and direct transmitter involved

Author:GIG      Postdate:2021-06-03

1. SAA, the Australian certification authority, recently issued a notice that the registered inverters meeting CEC requirements of 4777.2:2015 must be updated to as / NZS 4777.2:2020 before December 18, 2021. This means that any certificate holder or Australian supplier who applies for CEC listing for such products will not be able to meet the requirements, Be sure to obtain the complete test report of as / NZS 4777.2:2020 before this date and submit it to SAA for certificate filing. SAA will issue an appendix to the certificate, and the certificate holder can submit the appendix to CEC for filing.

The new version of as / NZS 4777.2:2020 is very different from the previous version. Please note the following points:

Clause 4.2:

Based on the suggestions given by the Standards Committee and CEC, if there are two relays in series in the inverter as automatic disconnection devices, the requirements of Clause 4.2 can be met by relays working at the same time. This requirement does not need to apply to a single relay.

Test at different locations:

As / NZS 4777.2:2020 specifies the setting of different locations. The test report should include the test result form for Australian area a (the site required in the standard), and there is no need to have the test result form for Australian area B and C, However, the test report should clarify that the inverter also has settings that meet the Australian region B and region C set point standards in as / NZS 4777.2:2020, and indicate the setting values.

2. The government regulatory department changed the validity period of the safety regulation certificate of the hair straightener from the original two years to five years.

Implementation date of new requirements: May 1, 2021

Before the change: accept the valid test report within one year, and the certificate is valid for two years

After the change: accept the valid test report within 5 years, and the certificate is valid for 5 years

This change is only applicable to new applications and renewal applications submitted from May 2021. Certificates previously applied will not be affected
