Italian FCMs

On 23 August 1982, Italy issued law DPR 777 in order to implement Directive 76/893/EEC. In addition to the safety of food contact materials, the Act provides for the basic requirements of the EU framework instructions, and specifies the scope, illegal penalties and penalties and other content. Over the years, this decree has also revised many times with the changes in the EU regulations.

To implement the framework regulation, a series of MINISTERIAL DECREE (D.M) are derived, like D.M.04/04/1985 on ceramics, D.M. 21/03/1973 on plastics, rubber, regenerated cellulose film, paper and board, glass and stainless steel products.

Among them, the safety of metal products such as stainless steel is highly concerned by local attention. Italy has a multi-year notification of stainless steel products in the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
